Do you genuinely enjoy preparing accounts?
We’re looking for an experienced Accounts Senior who takes pride in producing high-quality work, enjoys helping clients and wants to be part of a supportive and ambitious team.
You’ll be someone who loves the detail of accountancy.
You’ll enjoy preparing year-end accounts, completing VAT returns, keeping bookkeeping accurate and making sure clients’ financial information is in good order.
You’ll also be confident taking ownership of your own workload.
You won’t need someone constantly checking what you’re doing next, but you’ll know when to ask questions, raise concerns or lean on the wider team for support.
What you’ll be doing
Your role will include:
- Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Preparing corporation tax computations and supporting tax return preparation
- Completing VAT returns
- Reviewing and completing bookkeeping
- Preparing working papers and maintaining accurate client records
- Managing your own portfolio, workload and deadlines
- Communicating with clients in a friendly and straightforward way
- Identifying missing information, unusual transactions and potential issues
- Supporting junior colleagues and sharing your knowledge
- Working with client managers and the wider team to deliver a brilliant client experience
- Contributing ideas to improve our systems and ways of working
This isn’t a role where you’ll be expected to work entirely alone.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, with people around you to answer questions, share ideas and help when things become challenging.
But we will trust you to take responsibility, keep work moving and communicate openly.
What we’re looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience preparing year-end accounts within an accountancy practice
- Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge
- Experience working with limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Confidence managing multiple deadlines
- Good attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using Xero or similar cloud-accounting software
- Begun your accountancy training, or be qualified by experience
Just as importantly, you’ll be someone who:
- Takes ownership of their work
- Cares about quality
- Enjoys working as part of a team
- Can organise and self-manage
- Communicates early when something isn’t going to plan
- Wants to learn and develop
- Is happy to contribute ideas rather than simply follow a process
- Doesn’t take themselves too seriously
