We have some exciting news!
HMRC have announced that from the 3rd October 2022 (previously hoped 19th September 2022), employers can now pay PAYE via a new variable Direct Debit plan. This is just like you can for your VAT. This means you set up a direct debit, authorising HMRC to collect the relevant payment directly from your bank account based on your last payroll submissions.
Following the setup of the direct debit plan, your Government Gateway will change and the link on the portal will change to ‘manage your direct debit’ allowing you to view, change or cancel the direct debit online, with no limit on how many times this can be accessed.
The following charges can be collected via direct debit, based upon the returns filed to HMRC:
- Full payment submission
- Employer payment summary
- Construction industry scheme
- Apprenticeship levy
- Class 1A National Insurance
- Earlier year update
The service will be easily accessed through ‘Pay Employers PAYE’ or directly through the business tax account and the employers PAYE service.
This will make it easier to keep on top of all PAYE payments, and the feeling of those dreaded penalties creeping up on you.
